Preview: Living in a Fairytale

Every once in a while I'll slave over a shoot...and I mean really slave. This past month I've thrown myself into three. With each, I put in at least 5 hours more effort than I normally do. These are dream pieces. What I mean by that is, these are shoots that I've been dreaming about doing for a long time. I have a diary entry dated 3 years ago where I roughly sketched this idea out, in hopes of one day being able to pull it off. It is a huge weight off my shoulders to have finished, and I feel so happy with what came of it. Here's the shoot: 3 fairytales, with a Lizzy spin on each, of course. A huge shout out to everyone that helped make the shoots possible!! Especially my creative director and friend, Enos Ledezma. Enjoy the preview! And the full shoots are soon to come!

A Lady in the Streets

This past weekend I went to the delightful and wholesome city of Las Vegas. That's right folks, sin city. While I was there, I was truly inspired by the lifestyle of...for lack of a better term... hookers [prostitutes, call girls, exotic dancers- take your pick]. This is sounding crazy, right? I felt bad for these women, of course, but I also loved observing a completely different culture than my own. I live in a place nicknamed Happy Valley for peete's sake. Nothing raunchy or exciting ever happens here. So this shoot is to honor those women who give their bodies to the cause of desperate and horrible men. I salute you and your red light districts all over the world. Here is my tribute to a world I know little about, and have no desire to join.

Alisha and Jonathan Wedding

I shot this winter wonderland wedding back in December. I expected Michigan to be coated in snow, but instead it was pretty warm and rainy. Either way, Alisha and Jonathan looked adorable. Their reception was in the cutest little Christmas town called Frankenmuth, and we even took some pictures in Bronners. The best part of it all was definitely the dancing. I love when families of the bride and groom love to get down on the dance floor!

A Day of Love

Happy Valentine's Day! Today, instead of doing a fashion shoot with a somewhat obnoxious-but-adorable mix of red and pink... I've decided to do something a little more personal. I want to honor all the adoooooorable couples in my life. Normally on Valentine's Day I tend to become incredibly hostile toward every couple I see, and then quickly go bipolar and try to over-decorate a stranger's car in pink streamers and teddy bears while singing love songs at the top of my lungs. I'm very weird, I know. But this year I've actually been thinking about the meaning of this cheesy and delightful holiday. It's not about buying gifts. It's not about being reminded you're single. It's about showing the people in your life you LOVE them!

Maybe I'm not an expert in [googly eyes, holding hands, I can't live without you] love, I mean sure I'm not married, but I do know a little something about the normal kind of love. The kind I have for all my friends and my amazing family. When I talked to my mom about what her and my dad would do for Valentine's Day she simply said, "Why would we do something? Every day is Valentine's Day for us." Gag, if you will, but I think it's sweet. Every day should be a day you appreciate someone and remind them how much you are crazy, over-the-moon, bonkers about them! So go out there and be lame. Buy a cheesy card and tell someone you love them. Decorate their car with too many paper hearts and balloons. It's okay to give in to this holiday just a little bit.
