Dreaming of Summer..

So.. anyone else buried in snow and dreaming of summer? Summer nights at the cottage with clear skies and bonfires, sunsets, tubing, canoeing to the island; oh what a life!

Here are some pictures I took last time I was in SoCal..

Old McDonald had a farm..

One of my favorite parts about Michigan is the rustic beauty. There are some great antique buildings in surrounding towns, farm scenery, and fields. I am always keeping an eye out for new places to shoot outside. After driving by a farm I see frequently, I got inspired. I styled my models, in white dresses of course, and headed to the tractors and barns.

I loved everything about the scene of this photoshoot. The rust on the tractors, the mud and field, the old furniture tossed in piles of broken parts. This will definitely not be the first shoot I do there. Credit to my lovely models: Jess Reimers and Kelly Maxwell.

Who didn't play with paper dolls when they were little?

To begin, here is a little background. In my AP art class we are asked to select an area of concentration. Mine is white dresses. The last thing I wanted people to think the theme of my collection is Bridal, so I began branching out to other places you could see a white dress. I got this crazy idea to make my own dress.... out of paper.

I began building on a mannequin, and after a few tries and a few days the dress looked how I wanted it. It is made entirely out of paper and tissue paper, plus a silk ribbon as a belt. The back is also criss-crossed with ribbon. I also made a dozen or so origami cranes to add flavor to the shoot. Credit to my beautiful and very patient [with me and my crazy dress] model, Kelly Maxwell. Enjoy!
